What is "essential" healthcare?

Recommended Posts

Anybody have a definition of essential healthcare? Is there a monetary limit to it? Or is it unlimited healthcare to keep you alive?

Now remember dopey progressives. Healthcare resources are LIMITED so HOW are you going to "equitably" offer "essential" healthcare to every human within the borders?

CP ducked the question so let's see if anyone can throw out a logical/rational definition.

Most people in this country who have health insurance get it through their employer and they get what they get with little choice as to coverage or cost. The employer picks the insurance plan and cost. The insurance companies get to decide what is "essential." These are the facts. This is how it is now and has been for many years for most people in this country. They have no choice.

Nationalize health care. Then let the doctors and patients decide.

No more insurance company actuaries deciding what health care is essential and what is not.

You didn't answer the question. We don't have the resources to service EVERYONE in this country DUH. So what is "essential" healthcare and what do you ration?????

Any ideas or are you just another idiot who doesn't understand the concept of limited resources.?

I disagree ... we do have the resources to provide health care to everyone in this country. No need to "ration" anything. First thing ... we kill all the insurance companies.

I don't care whether you disagree or agree. The resources are LIMITED. It's a FACT. That's WHY we have physician and nurse shortages which your ideology actually makes WORSE.

So WHAT are you going to give up? Time waiting for care or rationing services or both?

Positive thinking does not make it so. My wife has worked in hospitals for 21 years and they barely keep up with the people coming in the E.R.

You going to kill all the for profit hospitals too????

Progressives aren't very keen on the concept of resources and they never seem to be mathmatically inclined either. It's like a part of their brain is shut off.

Yes, we certainly do have the resources to help everyone. It's a matter of priorities. We spend billions on cosmetics alone. Every year at this time I get catalogs filled with hundreds of things no one needs but spend money on anyway. It is said that no society has the right to call itself civilized unless it makes it its business to make sure none of its members goes without healthcare. That means catastrophic, chronic, rehabilitation, prevention. They minute that having expensive cars, 4,000 square foot houses with one or two people living in them, any and every luxury (definition: unnecessary) takes precedence over first making sure that every citizen has access to medical technology, we are no longer a civilized society but a selfish one.

Well, you ARE still free to move to one of those "civilized societies" you envy.

Why do you want everyone here to be subjected to YOUR view of "civility"?

Essential healthcare plans are what the purchaser determines to be essential. Listen to the horror stories of those who have been cut off from the healthcare plans they have had for years. The rising premiums and deductibles are caused by mandating services or procedures for all health plans.

Yeah its gonna' shut all those hospitals down, there is nothing that will kill a business quicker than too many customers, that's a known fact if you are an idiot. You don't know a f--king thing about business do you, you expand moron, you know that thing you claim big business will do if we let them freeload on taxes.

It's sad how uninformed you are. Hospitals all over the country are already saying they won't take Obamacare patients because the reimbursement rate means they will lose money.

You really shouldn't bloviate about subjects which you obviously know nothing about.

But if you did that, you wouldn't be able to say anything, would you?

I wasn't referring to money in terms of resources. EVERY "civilized" society that offers socialized medicine RATIONS their healthcare, ESPECIALLY expensive procedures and treatment. Basically anything that requires a specialist.......

Why do you think that is?

So back to the question..... WHAT are you willing to sacrifice by adding 30 or 40 million people to an already stretched system?

One month waits for primary care physicians? 6 month waits for specialists? What?

What are you going to ration?

Let's use the pie analogy.

Healthcare is an apple pie that's barely feeding 10 people. You add another 4 or 5 people to the pie eating and what happens to everyone's share of the pie?

So what are you willing to give up? WHAT becomes essential healthcare?

I'm not opposed to offering EVERY American BASIC healthcare but WHAT does BASIC healthcare entail?

F--k you idiot, I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I read you bulls--t about things you know nothing about comment, that's your f--king MO kid. I haven't heard anything that you actually thought up yourself, it's been all stupid s--t thought up by your stupid fake news and Lush and Hanity mentors. I don't have any respect for idiots like you that let other idiots do their thinking for them. There is no excuse for stupidity kid (unless you were born retarded) so I'll just rest my case at this point. I feel a little bad that you have to go to bed stupid and wake up stupid, but it's just not my problem kid, so you need to grab your boot straps and pull yourself up from stupid.

What's your point? Death panels if you don't have the money? Your talking about an effect here not a cause. When you people here begin to get to the root cause of the questions you pose you might ask a meaningful question.

It's not my view, any more than the law's requirement that a motorist is required to stop and render aid to someone in an accident is "my" view. If you are so selfish that you put material things for yourself ahead of allowing people to die when we have the techniques to save them, then God help you.

Your disdain for civilized society is noted. Now might we ask about how you feel about stomping kittens and puppy's to death or have you painted the perfect picture of how you feel about society and decency in general? Why the f--k do you think that anyone should move, when it is you the a$$hole that should be packing your luggage. Don't you find it strange the you should be telling others to move when it is actually you that is the malcontent that thinks that civility and decency. suck.

I always find it amusing when a liberal plays the morality card.

Don't you have a baby to abort?

Every European I've asked about "rationing" looks at me like I'm from Mars. They say they've never run into that nor heard of anyone who has had care rationed.

It's sure rationed here, though. Don't have money? Tought sh*t for you, just go die.

You can't call it "basic" because that implies a higher tier that you can't access without money. There's either healthcare for all or there isn't. Does someone deserve to die because he has no insurance and has, say, cancer, as a friend of mine does, and his chemo drugs are forty thousand dollars a month? He's mighty d*mn glad for that insurance! But answer the question -- does that person with staggering bills deserve to die because he doesn't have the money or the insurance?

I always find it amusing when a liberal plays the morality card.

Yeah, morality is a word with which you aren't too conversant. Bet you'd have made fun of Jesus to his face when he was teaching about that wussy morality stuff.

Well, I've only affirmed my pro-life stance on this board about 25 times, but no one poster can see everything, I guess.

Nationalize health care. Then let the doctors and patients decide.

It's really stunning how uninformed people who support "national healthcare" can be.

They refuse to learn from the mistakes of other countries that have gone down this road, and now have "national healthcare" AND private insurance.

I guess paying twice for healthcare, if you can afford it, makes sense to you idiots.

National healthcare will NOT allow doctors and patients decide what services you'll get. The GOVERNMENT will make that decision for you.

WAKE UP.

Evidently you missed the point, it's you liberals who continually scream about people shoving their morality down your throats, but then you have absolutely no problem doing that yourself.

Dummy.

And I've seen you make this "pro-life" claim before, yet you vote for just the opposite.

Sorry, but you ARE responsible for the things you support with your votes.

Yeah everyone who doesn't support your hare brained s--t, is uninformed, where have I heard that bulls--t before, maybe lush or something. You would need a hell of a lot more intelligence for anyone to take you as the last word on anything kid, you are no more than a bag of skin filled with a mixture of ego and s--t, and life will get better for you, when you finally realize that. Get a f--king job you douche, and quit holding up the unemployed statistic. A monkey can fry burgers, so even you should be able to learn it with with about 2500 hours of training, or in the case that you flunk out, there is always good will, they don't mind mind retardation, because they don't have to pay you retards very much. So lets see you grab them boot straps kid, and pull yourself up from the depths of stupidity.

FIRST, you need to read up on the definition of rationing DUMBASS.

Next, you need to do some actual RESEARCH on the topic instead of asking someone from Europe......

They ration in two ways:

A. They limit treatments, especially expensive ones. I KNOW you're DUMB enough to think they cover EVERY medical procedure known to man but...... they don't......

B. Rationing also involves waiting months to see a specialist or weeks to see a primary care physician......It's called a restriction in supply to curb costs...... You still get the medical access..... but you wait months for an MRI appointment etc.
