Obamacare first step toward single payer

Recommended Posts

As Harry Reid and Bawney Fwank have admitted, Obamacare was meant to drive all private health insurance companies out of business.

It is a "transition" toward Single Payer Government Monopoly Health Insurance, as Obama himself quietly said many times he intended.

Which would leave all Americans dependent on Beltway politicians.

Obama Officials In 2010: 93 Million Americans Will Be Unable To Keep Their Health Plans Under Obamacare
Avik Roy Avik Roy

.....Section 1251 of the Affordable Care Act contains what’s called a “grandfather” provision that, in theory, allows people to keep their existing plans if they like them. But subsequent regulations from the Obama administration interpreted that provision so narrowly as to prevent most plans from gaining this protection.

“The Departments’ mid-range estimate is that 66 percent of small employer plans and 45 percent of large employer plans will relinquish their grandfather status by the end of 2013,” wrote the administration on page 34,552 of the Register. All in all, more than half of employer-sponsored plans will lose their “grandfather status” and get canceled. According to the Congressional Budget Office, 156 million Americans—more than half the population—was covered by employer-sponsored insurance in 2013.

Another 25 million people, according to the CBO, have “nongroup and other” forms of insurance; that is to say, they participate in the market for individually-purchased insurance. In this market, the administration projected that “40 to 67 percent” of individually-purchased plans would lose their Obamacare-sanctioned “grandfather status” and get canceled, solely due to the fact that there is a high turnover of participants and insurance arrangements in this market. (Plans purchased after March 23, 2010 do not benefit from the “grandfather” clause.) The real turnover rate would be higher, because plans can lose their grandfather status for a number of other reasons.

How many people are exposed to these problems? 60 percent of Americans have private-sector health insurance—precisely the number that Jay Carney dismissed. As to the number of people facing cancellations, 51 percent of the employer-based market plus 53.5 percent of the non-group market (the middle of the administration’s range) amounts to 93 million Americans.

Thanks to conservative policies, the United States lags far behind the rest of the industrialized nations in terms of health care efficiency, life expectancy, and overall quality of life. If this nation were as great as the right wingnut lunatic fringe so ignorantly proclaims, we would already be leading the world with a universal, single-payer, comprehensive cradle-to-grave health care system instead of subjecting people to the inefficient and exorbitantly expensive for-profit injury and illness treatment industry we cope with now.

Of course, the right wingnut lunatic fringe would prefer we remain mired in the dark ages while the rest of the world moves forward. Fucking morons.

Letting Beltway politicians and unaccountable bureaucrats run US health care is stunningly stupid.

But true, most of the world is terribly mis-governed. Why would anyone want to emulate failure?

And most Americans oppose Obamacare, growing by the day.

Are most Americans the "right wingnut lunatic fringe," moonbat?

Your delusional rantings and stunning disconnect from reality highlights your inarticulate gibberish.

For example, health care reform was one of Obama's primary campaign issues in '08, and he was duly elected by the American people. In '12, that sleaze bag R-money used the repeal of Obamacare as his campaign lynchpin. How'd that election turn out again? Any clue, you fucking imbecile?

And while your obviously more comfortable with your head shoved so deep up your ass you can French kiss your prostate, the rest of the modern industrialized world is moving onward and forward, leaving the US wallowing in a dark age of our own creation. Thanks to people like you, America is quickly becoming a failure of it's own design. But as your vile ideology becomes powerless and irrelevant, we will recover with the proliferation of liberal, progressive policies, courtesy a more enlightened populace coming of voting age.

How you gonna pay for all that "proliferation of liberal, progressive policies?"

For starters, the plutocracy and corporations are gonna start paying their fair share of taxes instead of evading them.

Do we not already have the highest corporate tax rate in the world? Do we not have American businesses moving to markets overseas because of this? Who decides what is their fair share---you???

So your solution is to send more jobs overseas? You haven't thought your plan through to it's logical conclusion have you?

This is the classic Liberal viewpoint as you noticed.... Business and private citizens aren't taxed enough--- it's never the case of an irresponsible, out of control Government's reckless spending.

wont happen. Americans, as stupid as the majority are, now realize what an excellent health care system we had prior to sambo care. they further realize that the govt had no idea how to manage anything so why let them have any control over something as important as healthcare??

Agreed,

the vast majority of Americans are ignorant to what the Feds do... However, they do take notice when it hits their own wallets... You will see America's complete allergic reaction to Obamacare when the employer mandate kicks in and people start losing hours at work or their jobs.

I'f I was still a business owner and had to let employees go, or scale their hours back---the selection process would go as follows... I'd be walking the employee parking lot, looking for Obama/Biden bumper stickers... they go first.

Furthermore, we reduce our defense budget by 25% a year for a decade, eliminate all foreign aid to countries like Israel, end all tax subsidies for the fossil fuel industry, and tax any corporation that eliminates American jobs in favor of cheap foreign labor out of business entirely. And we should give Texas back to Mexico and give it's star to Puerto Rico. No more Gee Dumbyas or Ted Cruzes.

You bastards want a war? We'll give you a war. And we will win.

I've no problem with cutting off 100% of all foreign aid...We can't pay our own bills, so we shouldn't be paying anyone elses... The rest of your post is just another moonbat vomit-launch.

"Obamacare first step toward single payer"

Let's hope so.

That's right Dano, we need Government provided and managed everything... Can you even fathom the concept of self-reliance or personal responsibility you leech?

So you want to cut the military budget from 665 billion to 37 billion? That won't even cover the base pay for our military personnel.

Good...rotate out 70% of our military forces...they're not needed and just do busy-work all day.

Reduce the military budget from obver 50% of the budget to less than 30%.

Countries that spend even less than that on their militaries prosper.

Set up govt job prgms for them as they switch to civilian life...drop private prisons and make them govt run again, staffed by former military. Increase staffing at VA's.

Set up govt run medical research facilities, make anti-biotics and vaccines, compete with private pharma companies. Staff it with trained, former military.

Increase funding to police depts...state transpo depts., govt run construction companies, and expand the railroads and turn the mail back over to the govt, all staffed by former military.

It ain't rocket science.

Wouldn't you be happier taking it to 18% instead of 30%?

You really don't know what we're talking about, do you?

you don't even know what the ACA or single payer means. But being totally ignorant on a subjoect has never stopped you before from waxing informed.

Amuse us some more.

ACA aka Obama care is government forced rules about what kind of plans that the insurance companies are forced to make available. Single payer is the government being the insurance company. VA benefits, Medicare, and Medicaid are single payer. At present the vast majority of people signing up are for Medicaid. If this continues Obama care is down the Drain. If the young and healty do not sign up in mass it is also down the Drain. Obama pushed this to get the 30 million who do not have insurance into an insurance plan. They are jumping into the free Medicaid. This will end up forcing states to cut back on many other things like roads, police, etc.

Looking at the current single payer plans they are huge unfunded liabilities as well as being very inefficient and hurting the people they are to give the health benefits for. The VA hospitals are a disgrace. Medicare has lots of doctors and hospitals refusing to take Medicare only patients. Medicaid is even worse. Medicare and Medicaid both do not give enough money to the provider for them to break even. The Mayo Clinic in Arizona had before Obama care was passed stopped taking Medicare patients.

Your ignorance is amazing. Obama is a liar.

If you want to keep your plan you can keep it period.

If you want to keep your Doctor you can period.

If you want to keep your company plan you can.

This will save the average family of 4 $2500 a year.

As of when the regulations were written in 2010 these were known to be false. But Obama just kept on saying them. Now the lies have come home to roost. After Jan 1 there will be a lot of screaming when the employers start cancelling the insurance they have and give the options for the sticker shock plans that the government is forcing them to give it they will even offer them.

Explain to me why at the age of 67 and my wife at 64 we need to have any coverage related to pregnancy? Why does a single young man need it as well? The one size fits all mentality of the far left thinking they know better what people need than they do. Freedom of choice out the window. Government mandated plans or single payer that sucks. The plans cost more (in my case $400 a month) and/or huge deductibles and pay through the nose that way. And the left ignores these problems with the ostrich method.

How did we pay for WWII? We were in the Great Depression. Hm. Maybe because we came together as a nation with a common goal? What an idea!

Well, the Right will make d*mn sure that kind of idea never enters people's minds again!

LOL. The military-security budget is way more than 665 billion comrade.

You fucking retarded piece of monkey shit. We lag in life expectancy and overall quality of life because most Americans are obese, lazy, don't exercise, eat shit for food, drink to much and use illicit drugs RETARD.

Then, after 20 or 30 years of completely destroying your body and mind? You expect healthcare professionals to put you back together with a prescription.

EVERYTHING you mentioned has to do with LIFESTYLE CHOICES so get off your ass, put down your bottle of booze and do some exercising ABOVE and BEYOND walking to the mailbox for your EBT card asshole.
