kfbvoice
The roll out of healthcare reform is going well to say the least. The Federal Government website is plagued by problems and Congrssional Republicans have called hearings into the matter. Meanwhile the White House has called in tech expert from the private sector to fix the situation. Worst of all its not clear how many people are signing up for coverage through state run exchanges especially young, healthy, uninsured, people on whom success or failure depends. Rightwing opponents of reform could not be happier about all this. They want the Affordable Care Act to fail and they don't have an alternative. All they want is to scale back government even if that is bad for society. When the Supreme Court ruled that states could choose not to participate in Federally funded Medicaid and not be penalized it gave the political Right a gift. If the ACA fails it will embolden a rightwing assault on all government health insurance programs. How would the GOP go after other programs ? 1. Spin off Medicaid completely to the states as a block grant which means alot fewer people would get help. 2. Turn Medicare into a voucher program allowing it to slowly fade away. 3. Defund and restrict eligibility to the Childrens Health Insurance Program. For people who really want an affordable healthcare system but oppose the ACA the GOP and the Tea Party offer nothing. The sooner people realize this the better off we all will be. The only thing these reactionaries are worried about is a mythical totalitarian socialist state in their own deluded imaginations.Too bad our health, liberty, and prosperity suffer because of their obstruction. You are quite correct on their delusion. They actually believe they are winning on any issue. At this point it has been determined that they are the danger to the American people they have demonstrated themselve's to be, as well as the most dysfunctional political entity in the history of the country. It has become abundantly clear that continuing to have any interaction whatsoever is a waste of time so all efforts are now aimed soley at defeating them, installing a more adult group of people, and passing enough Progressive legislation in a short period of time that they cannot recover from it in the future. They cannot win the Presidency at this point because the demographic make up of the voters already trumps their numbers at the voting booth. This only gets worse for them each passing election. The focus now is to get heavy turn out in the same numbers as the Presidential elections, in all midterm Congressional elections, as well as governors and state legislatures as quickly as possible. Once that occurs, even though there will still be pockets of them left in more red districts around the country, they no longer have a relevant voice in decision, or policy making of government function, and can be effectively ignored. For about 2 years, until the backlash against your beliefs put them back into office. You support the ACA because HMO's were bad, but can't seem to comprehend the fact that the SAME PERSON created the murderous, terrible system, and then "reformed" it. I would say that the only thing you need to understand at this point is math. But given the Bush recession, that's obviously something a simple minded rightward can never understand. You obviously aren't that great at it either. That "Bush" recession ended 5 months after Obama moved into the White House, and recovery still isn't on the horizon. kfbvoice
This idiot is divorced from reality. You would do well to quote my corrected post. If I am wrong about an alternative on the right then lets hear it. The fact of the matter is you want a system that works for some people while everyone else gets shafted. In your messed up conceptual universe that's liberty and its great, but in the real world its oppressive and it stinks. You libertarians like to say liberals are idiots divorced from reality but we have a long history of achievement from the New Deal to Kennedy and the New Frontier. Libertarians advocate a lot of bad ideas based on faulty assumptions that have never been tried anywhere in history and for good reasons. RichClem
. If the ACA fails it will embolden a rightwing assault on all government health insurance programs. How would the GOP go after other programs ? 1. Spin off Medicaid completely to the states as a block grant which means alot fewer people would get help. Bulls***. When Welfare Reform was passed, state reform was cheaper and better run. Besides which, I've never heard of anyone advocating what you claim. 2. Turn Medicare into a voucher program allowing it to slowly fade away. If it did, that would be because Americans want the freedom to manage their own money, duuuh. Gosh, who would ever want Americans to have more freedom? Not the moonbat left. Medicare will be bankrupt in less than a decade. What's your plan to save it? And they already have paid a political price for it. They will continue paying a political price for it. You are quite correct on their delusion. They actually believe they are winning on any issue. The red part is a typo, right? LOL! There isn't any right wing assault on government health care programs. There is an assault of the goverment on the private sector by govermentizing healthcare. The ACA is a disaster from top to bottom. We need to get rid of it and replace it with real market solutions and competition. The system we had before the ACA was horrible because of the disgusting restrictions the goverment placed on the industry by picking favorite companies and not allowing copetition. A regulated competitive market place of insurance companies is what we conservatives want.
