Seniors/ BE AWARE/ Obamacare Rationing on MEDICARE!!

Recommended Posts

This will be interesting to watch and see how this develops. My father-in-law just had a pace maker placed last month, luckily he got the deluxe model two lead MRI suitable type, he has a right bundle branch block. Am waiting for the bills to see what Medicare actually paid.

ObamaCare Is Rationing Seniors To Death

The Vice That Barack Built:

waiting-room-squeezea.jpg

This is how ObamaCare squeezes Medicare that squeezes hospitals that squeeze doctors who end up squeezing seniors by delaying and denying the treatment they need.

Break The Medicare Vice

ObamaCare was not supposed to affect seniors on Medicare but it does, and it already has started to squeeze Medicare, which in turn squeezes healthcare providers who in turn squeeze the medical care seniors receive by rationing, delayed treatment, substandard care and even outright denial of care.

The death panels we warned about in 2009 are up and running, here and now in 2013, and they are working with a vengeance to restrict the healthcare seniors receive through Medicare. And the worst part of it is, the death panels are such an integral part of the government’s scheme to finance ObamaCare on the backs of seniors through Medicare that it is impossible just to eliminate them; they are woven into the fabric of ObamaCare; so ObamaCare must be defunded and repealed in its entirety.

Last year, the former president of the American Medical Association (AMA), Donald Palmisano, wrote in a Daily Caller article that the main ObamaCare death panel, the Independent Payment Advisory Boards (IPAB), which is tasked with keeping Medicare expenses under control, poses an “immediate danger to seniors.” This panel of bureaucrats and the other ObamaCare advisory panels “will essentially mean rationed care” for the elderly. Today Palmisano’s prediction is coming true.

Many doctors simply will not take any new Medicare patients. Others are actually sending out letters to their current Medicare patients telling them they can’t see them anymore. Medicare has put seniors in a vice between bureaucrats and death panels that is literally squeezing seniors to death and misery by denying them a doctor.

It is nothing less than elder abuse for the government to delay and deny medical care to seniors, the sickest and most vulnerable Americans. Washington is so out of touch with real people in the real world they are putting seniors out in the cold and sending them to an early grave.

ObamaCare already mandates $716 billion in Medicare payment cuts. Those cuts were never intended to target waste, fraud, and abuse; they are instead across-the-board changes in Medicare payment formulas for health care providers—hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, hospice agencies, and Medicare Advantage plans. These cuts are manifesting themselves in rationing, treatment delays, substandard medical care and outright denial of care for seniors.

And it will only get worse. The Wall Street Journal reports (“The Doctor Won't See You Now, He’s Clocked Out”) that more and more doctors are abandoning their practices and going to work for hospitals and other large healthcare institutions. “In the not too distant future, most physicians will be hourly wage earners [like auto mechanics] likely employed by a hospital chain.”

So, it is not surprising that hourly wage doctors are even paid like auto mechanics for working on human “units.” The WSJ explains how these bureaucratic medical factories dehumanize medical care by “measuring the productivity of the physician practices they purchase in ‘Relative Value Units.’ RVUs are supposed to measure how much time and physical effort a doctor requires to perform different clinical endeavors. This is a formula that Medicare already uses to set doctor-payment rates. Medicare assigns each clinical procedure a different RVU and then multiplies this figure by a fixed amount of money to arrive at how much it will pay a doctor for a given task. A routine office visit has an RVU of about 1.68, while removing earwax has one of 1.26. Setting a finger fracture rates a 3.48.”

I know first hand how death panels are hurting seniors. My 86-year-old father just experienced how the Medicare squeeze works when his cardiologist told him he needed a pacemaker. Here’s how he described what happened:

“Medicare denied me the two-lead pacemaker I needed because ObamaCare bureaucrats considered it ‘medically unnecessary.’ My cardiologist knew better but he had no choice. After my first pacemaker surgery, which implanted the Medicare-approved, single-lead pacemaker, my condition deteriorated, just as predicted, because I needed a two-lead pacemaker, which Medicare had denied me. After doing battle with the bureaucracy, Medicare finally authorized corrective surgery to implant the proper two-lead pacemaker. The truth is, ObamaCare is NOT containing costs, it is driving them higher, it is endangering seniors lives and making us miserable by rationing care and denying old people the medical treatment they need

Not content with cutting Medicare $716 billion to subsidize ObamaCare, President Obama now proposes additional Medicare cuts and higher Medicare premiums in his 2013 budget. Under the Obama budget plan, seniors will pay more—a lot more—and they will pay this steep price in many different ways, including higher Medicare premiums, higher deductibles and co-pays for Medicare supplemental insurance, and most frightening, loss of access to care from demoralized and hamstrung doctors and other medical professionals.

Here’s the bottom line: Medicare “as we know it” is already a thing of the past. If you don’t know it yet, you soon will when the Medicare Squeeze hits you or a loved one. Goodbye Medicare; Hello ObamaCare for Seniors.

Listen to the story of an 83-year old woman who explains another way Medicare is squeezing her to pay for ObamaCare: “Once Medicare would pay for all needed blood tests but now it will only pay for one per year regardless of what your doctor believes you need.”

Get the picture? ObamaCare uses Medicare as the means of squeezing seniors to misery and death while the ObamaCare death panels squeeze Medicare to ration healthcare to seniors, delay the treatment they do receive, provide substandard treatment and increasingly deny care altogether. It’s the death panels in action.

Here is yet another way ObamaCare is squeezing Medicare to squeeze seniors to death: It bars the doors of hospitals to the sickest seniors. Starting last fall, the ObamaCare version of Medicare began punishing (by fining) hospitals that re-admit seniors within 30 days of being discharged. Imagine the enormous pressure physicians come under now when they want to readmit a patient due to a relapse or any other new medical necessity (frequently the result of the earlier hospital stay) given that Obama Medicare will reduce his hospital's reimbursement rate. This is how ObamaCare squeezes Medicare that squeezes hospitals that squeeze doctors who end up squeezing seniors by delaying and denying the treatment that old people need. More than 2,000 hospitals are currently on Obama's hit list, and more will follow.

Another favorite money-saving tactic of the ObamaCare death panels is to force doctors to provide cancer patients substandard treatment. For example, if the death-panel criteria disagree with a doctor and categorize his cancer patient as too old or too sick to receive the care he recommends, Medicare bureaucrats will overrule his professional medical judgment and refuse to reimburse him for administering the kind of treatment he deems medically appropriate in this particular case (say to use cyberknife surgery) and instead Medicare authorizes only what the doctor considers to be substandard care (such as, say, chemo therapy or radiation).

Free market solution to lower costs? Lower demand and/or increase suppy.

Progressive solution? Ration care and screw providers aka raise demand and reduce supply.

Luckily the in-laws have supplemental insurance, the divide between the haves and have not's is growing by the minute,,,,

Here's a couple highlights from Obama's 2014 budget:

  • physician payment rates would be reduced by about 25 percent in 2014
  • reduces the Federal subsidy of Medicare costs for those beneficiaries who can most afford them

So, doctors will be fleeing Medicare at a much faster rate!

And who will set the limit for means testing the seniors? And what will that limit be?

Nice AMA propaganda peice!

Fact is, over 1/2 of doctor appointments are unnecessary! There is so much waste its incredible! All done to pad the BIG MED accounts! And URGENT CARE is almost non existent! Try to see a doctor when you need him now! You end up at the ER waiting for hours while they treat all the drug addict overdoses and Beaner babies!

Another fact I found out: You have just as much longevity with open heart surgery, as when you don't, and just treat it with drugs! And over 1/2 of open heart surgery is unneeded! WOW!

If you eliminate Medicare fraud, that is way more than the "cuts" involved. Who does the fraud? Doctors and clinics!

I see seniors and talk to them in the waiting rooms all the time. Its just checkups, on top of more checkups, a huge waste.

The Rethugs say we just need to "die faster" . I agree! Soylent Green would cut costs a great deal. We have created a huge Zombie class of seniors, who should have died off long ago!

I'm old, decrepit, and not waiting around for the Grim Reaper to take me. Simply put a plastic bag over my head, and poof! Your gone! Cheap, easy, and not messy like the .38 solution!

It provides me a sense of freedom, not having to care anymore!

Ignorance abounds. There is a lot of fraud and waste in the government. So why does the government not put a stop to it? It costs more to fix the problem than to let it continue. Checkups are not paid for under Medicare. The older a person gets the more health problems they have. If you choose suicide that leaves more for the rest of us. So long. Tell God I said hi.

I am retired fed. Medicare was going broke in 1983. Reagan threw the fed into it to generate additional income. Fed workers were never in it and carried our health ins. when we retired. Now retired fed workers are dipping in BIG TIME. Retired fed baby boomers are cashing in. I am over 65 and just had cancer surgery. I carry blue cross on top of medicare. BC/BS are sending me statements on the costs of my treatments. I pay 0, nada, nothing. The costs of my care have gone over $25,000 and are still climbing. Medicare is first payer and the BC/BS picks up the rest. The $25,000 cost far surpasses anything close to what I paid in. YOU pay the cost. Baby boomers are retiring and going on medicare at the rate of 10,000 A DAY. Boomers like myself are getting sick and YOU pay for it. The same thing is going to happen with obamacare. Subsidies and other costs are going to add up to trillions of dollars. YOU are going to pay. My cancer is gone now and i am looking forward to a long life which YOU will be glad to pay for. The millions of people who will be getting subsidies, (their obamajob part time will make them eligible) medicaid, (their obamajob part time will make them eligible) SSI, and all the other freebees will thank YOU. I thank YOU. Thank you.

Congrats on kicking cancer johnd. As time goes by have your immune system checked out. My wife has had breast cancer twice at 34 and again at 40, going on 9 years as survivor. She had chemo the first time around and over time her immune system crashed. The normal reading on the immune system is 1100 and hers was down to 200. She took Colostrum for 2 years and her numbers came back to normal and continues to take. (note: this was from her own research and kind of floored the doctors when they found out)

This is absolutely true as my wife works in a hospital.

The BEST is when they call for capital gains tax increases fully KNOWING that retired seniors own the majority of capital gains dividends. They don't care about anything but their ridiculous self destructive agenda their masters indoctrinate them with.

The fraud and waste is done by medical practitioners, not the government, fool!

I have Medicare checkups paid for by Medicare. But often, I just ignor them, because I know they are scheduled to pad the doctors profits. Example; For about the sixth time in a row, my eye doctor made me do the peripheral vision test, which drives me batty. Even tho he had already checked my peripheral vision manually, and I had not complained about any problem regarding that! And I refuse to come in twice per year as they wanted me to, now I come in only if I have had vision changes or problems.

So I am doing my small part to cut medical costs! Its too bad, everyone doesn't do that, it could make a big difference in costs.

Another thing: They keep throwing dangerous, unneeded drugs at me! Thank God, I do my own research on these drugs before I accept them, it has saved my life more than a few times, and other unwanted side effects!

And they almost never check those drugs against the drugs you are already on, or you chart showing what your condition is!

This is SHAMEFUL! :glare:

BTW' what have Republicans done about medicare fraud?

GOP senators press HHS on Medicare fraud
By Sam Baker - 03/28/13 03:32 PM ET

Republican senators on Thursday questioned why the Obama administration hasn't used new fraud-prevention tools in its signature healthcare law.

Sens. Orrin Hatch (Utah), Chuck Grassley (Iowa) and Tom Coburn (Okla.) pressed the Health and Human Services Department over its new power to place a temporary moratorium on admitting new doctors in areas that are susceptible to Medicare fraud.

Certain types of medicine and certain geographic areas are known as hotbeds for Medicare fraud. The healthcare law gave HHS the power to suspend new doctors and suppliers who pose a high risk of Medicare fraud, but Hatch and Grassley said the department hasn't used that authority.

They specifically asked why HHS has not placed a moratoria on new home health agencies and medical equipment suppliers in South Florida.

"It is not reasonable to suggest that CMS needs more time to study whether there is a need to impose a temporary moratorium in certain geographical areas for certain provider and supplier types when ample evidence exists to justify moratoria in these high fraud areas," the senators said.

This will be interesting to watch and see how this develops. My father-in-law just had a pace maker placed last month, luckily he got the deluxe model two lead MRI suitable type, he has a right bundle branch block. Am waiting for the bills to see what Medicare actually paid.

Save your pennies boys and girls, retirement now has an added cost if you actually want to live!!!!

P.S. Medicare “as we know it” is already GONE. Just wait until the Medicare Squeeze hits you or a loved one. Goodbye Medicare; Hello ObamaCare for Seniors if we don't act now!

Free market solution to lower costs? Lower demand and/or increase suppy.

Progressive solution? Ration care and screw providers aka raise demand and reduce supply.

Your free market solution, #1. has never been used. #2. whatever you call it, it was a fking failure that bankrupted 1/2 the nation. SO go fk yourself and your cry baby storys of grief......

Too much bs. Here's some links.

Essentially, cuts to Medicare Advantage does not cut guaranteed benefits to seniors, it just cuts "extras" and actually doesn't literally cut anything. It slows the growth. Funding for providers and hospitals are the majority of cuts but there's no evidence that seniors will lose their doctors and certainly nobody's going to die from them. This is just the same bs claim first started by Sarah Palin and just won't die.
