Too much crying about Columbus

Recommended Posts

tired of it. Bunch of babies bitching how horrible Columbus was. If it wasn't for him America as we know it would not exist. Be glad you have the great life you do in the US because of his part in exploring the world. he wasn't the first and didn't hit his intended target but what he found was even better. And he opened the way for the rest of Europe. Erikson didn't do that.

Evil is never justified, don't you know that? You are okay with the murder and rape of human beings so you can live on this land? Are you nuts?

Thank Columbus for America existing as it is? Rubbish. I guess Europe would still not know this continent is here, huh? Nobody else would have come here?

Yup. Evil is never justified. And the lie is the greatest evil

Yea. I wish all my fellow black Mercans to celebrate your European history and enjoy this Columbus day. We don't have enough of these holidays.

Nope, I thank Columbus for opening the way for our country to exist. He wasn't evil. Name one civilization in the history of the world that didn't hve slaves? You can't because they all did, including the "nobel" savage, the native American.

The fact is Columbus did come here and did open the way. You cannot change that.

You act as if this world would be better with out the US. Typical liberal garbage but unlike you I don't feel guilty for the sins of others. You point your finger at all of history, yet that history has allowed you such a easy life in the US. You ungreatful liberal.

Americans should thank Columbus every day. The Indians were incapable of defending their land so they didn't deserve to keep it.

Hmm, shouldn't you thank that worthless gawd of yours who supposedly showed the rapist the way? Maybe thank the guy that built the boat, huh?

The guy who built the boat didn't have any vision. I would like to thank the guy who built my boat though. I enjoyed it all day yesterday.

I've been to Ireland (the Mother Land) and it was nice BUT I wouldn't want to live there...so I'm going to have to answer your question in the affirmative.

Murder and rape happens every day in the (code word) 'high crime areas' controlled by the Democrats and nothing seems to be being done about it. Candidate Obama had a 10 point plan to fix everything in the country and basically nothing has changed in Washington but the weather.

And your obsessing about a guy who died hundreds of years ago...give Old Mack a brake !

We can appreciate the vision and bravery of Columbus and other famous explorers...and mostly his voyages did result in the " New World" being found by Europe.

Of Course those explorers were generally the leading edge of colonialism. Colonialism became centuries where whoever was native...a culture that "discovered" those places much older....at LEAST lost the right to self govern, often had their culture repressed, might face genocide or slavery. had invaders take whatever land and resources they wanted. American natives were vulnerable to European diseases, like Smallpox.

To Natives...it wasn't a "Discovery...it was an invasion.

So....Columbus DID change the notion the world was flat. Even if by accident..he connected the "New World" to the Old World. To sail off into the unknown...was quite a risky and difficult thing and there was no backup plan. Columbus could easily have sailed right into a Hurricane. Nobody would have known where those 3 ships went to. Yes...had that happened...someone else would have "discovered" the Amercas later. But...that's so with any "first". Had the Wright brothers failed...someone else would have succeeded later.

Long ago when in grade school...we learned a "History" that was simplified and whitewashed. It was one sided and not really accurate. To learn from History we need to see the FULL picture not just the "feel good" parts.

By the time of our Civil War... most Civilized nations had already banned Slavery.

White people have earned the right to change history. It's one of the perks of ruling the world.

History glossed over the fact that Christopher Columbus did a lot of horrible things. For the sake of history, We should at least keep the record honest.

No man is perfectly good or perfectly evil, excepting only the Christ, and Columbus is no exception. Columbus was a product of his time and there is no evidence at all that if someone else had discovered Hispaniola that the results would have been significantly different for the Taino Indians. One man, Christopher Columbus, did not personally rape, enslave, murder, or exterminate all of the Taino people and yet one man gets heaped with all the blame.

Objective scholars think that diseases such as smallpox, influenza, and measles, was the overwhelming cause of the population decline of the Taino people, not the oppression, the rape, slavery, and murder of evil Europeans, but the left is happy to blame the evil Europeans for the actions of germs.

What we have in the American left is not enlightenment, but rather a need to blame Europeans for all of the evils of the world as they embrace multiculturalism. I find it amusing that multiculturalism must devalue the contributions and the culture of Europeans in order to embrace everyone else. Multiculturalism requires that Christopher Columbus be vilified as an evil rapist, murderer, terrorist, and slaver, a European, instead of celebrated as bold and courageous visionary explorer expanding humanities understanding of the world as Europe was slowly dragging itself out of the dark ages.

History is written by those who win. Columbus did not do anything wrong himself. He opened the New World to pillaging. Human history is littered with examples of strong civilizations subjugating those that are weak. This is true of Native Americans as well. They just happened to be on the receiving end of it when the Europeans got here. Had they not been so ass-backwards they wouldn't have been conquered.

He wasn't a saint, that is for sure. The problem is political correctness. It has swung so far the other way. Just tell the history of what happened. That is normal. What we have now is abject hatred by the left for Columbus. It is bizzar but it is based on the same old line of hate America first. You would be surprised how many liberals actually believe the world would be better off if the US never existed. They think that this land would be better, the native Americans would be better. This simply isn't the case. IF the US did not come about, this whole land would be a 3rd wold country. The native americans were basically stoneage people when we met them. The were not these perfect peaceful people. They were just as cruel and barbaric as any other civilization in history. They did not treat the land with all this love. Their history was glossed over (too use your words) to elevate them and push America down. No civilization is perfect but America did the most to advance freedom, even with in our own imperfections.

Switch it with St Patrick's day. If the progs can over look the catholic/christian slant to the day. Hell, they have everything the libs like. A an almost enslaved people held down by the evil rich englishman, not allowed to own much land and had to give what they had to the land lord. The righties get to drink and have a merry time.

It's undenable that CC was the major reason Europe colonized America, But Its hard to say that Native Americans wouldn't have created a nation state of their own without the colonization.

Furthermore, Some of the biggest contributors of history were also some of the biggest assholes in history as well.
