What happens if most Americans choose the fine?

I'm hoping thats exactly what does happen so we can once and for all join the rest of the civilized world with single payer healthcare.

You really believe that's ever going to happen? Look at what it took to pass Obamacare, and at how much control the health insurance lobby has over Democrats.

Just curious. What happens if a good amount of Americans choose the fine rather then go with Obamacare or health insurance in general? Will it make any difference?

What do you mean most Americans? The affordable care act effects about 15% of the population. Most people have insurance through a private or government employer. Congress having the best one fully paid for. The law doesn't effect any of them. The majority of the 15% are unemployed workers, low wage workers with no workplace plans, and young people. The remainder being those who can't get policies because of pre existing conditions. 99.9% of the people in those groups are gladly going to sign up for one of the policies in the exchanges. In a lot of cases, after the subsidy helping most of them pay their premiums, they're actually getting a policy that costs just as much as the fine which gets them nothing.

Premiums are going to skyrocket. Many insurance companies have already sent out letters to their recipients warning them of the change. Where do you get these numbers from? A lot of people are complaining about 'sticker shock' with these policies. These costs are not nearly what was promised. Not by a long shot. People should take the fine.

Might help the debt, I suppose.

Could you be more specific?

Well...yeah you then have another unexpected funding that may yeild less $ overall...but is pure revenue for the govt while the Buy Insurance process does not actually send $ to uncle Sam

Only in your own pocket book, when workers & businesses are taxed for their medical care for those expensive ER toe nail cuts & hospital visits & follow up doctor visits. But you will feel better knowing they didn't sign up. Look on the bright side huh? All those fines will help fund Obama Care and make it better.

Health insurers won't be able to mitigate the terminally ill and pre-existing so they will go bankrupt and the IRS will take complete control of health care.

Insurers are just raising premiums for those of us who are paying. Haven't you ever wondered why Obama's 5 years into his presidency and he's had 7%+ unemployment the entire time??? He thinks shifting costs around the economy is going to hurt business. He's just hurting average and poor Americans.

Easy not to pay the fine at all since the IRS has no real power of enforcement. another one of those things you had to pass it to find out.

Not much of a fine this year.... Just $95... This money is to be confiscated from Tax Refunds.... I don't know about the rest who Opt out... The real show begins next year, when that fine for not being insured dramatically increases..... I don't know how the IRS or the Feds plan to handle the Millions who can't afford the Coverage or the Fine....

We never believed we could build a heavier-than-air flying machine. The Wrights built one.

We never believed slavery would end. It ended.

The builders of the Titanic believed it could not sink. It sank.

We never believed a black man would be president. One is. If you think he is "half-black," (i.e., so you won't have to believe we have a black president), I invite you to look up a little something called the "one-drop rule."

In the late 1800's the Patent Office considered closing down because "everything that can be invented has been invented."

We believed women would never get the vote. They did.

We believed we would never set foot on the moon. Neil Armstrong went there and walked on it.

The Obamacare Law works against itself..... On one hand you are required to have Health Coverage.... But in the same Mandate, you cannot be denied with a Pre-existing condition... Why make monthly payments on a Healthcare plan, when you only have to sign-up when you need expensive medical treatment?

We never thought that America would elect a communist/socialist president and want to turn us into a 3rd world country, but they did.

True.

That destination is a way off, I think. The transition will take a good few steps.

The alternatives may be unsustainable too, though.

How has the UK Healthcare system worked out... My understanding is only the Russian Military and India's Transit system has a greater workforce.... And you don't have untold millions of illegals added to your burden?

Do you really believe Obamacare will magically morph into a product people can afford and want to purchase?

What is it like living in your world Lisa?

So you believe that for the first time in human history money won't buy an election, and voters will be educated and informed on the decision they're making?
