Vets tell Cruz and Caribou Barbie to kindly die in a fire.

In reality, the message was "Fuck Off".

One wonders whether the tee-hatters will get the message.

Probably not.

Bizarre political theater played out this weekend in D.C., where about a thousand veterans rallied to protest the government shutdown of veterans' memorials - an event unexpectedly, shamelessly, photogenetically hijacked by Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin, neither of whom are veterans and both of whom supported (and in Cruz' case largely orchestrated) the shutdown they were now loudly protesting. The gathering featured prayers, guns, a giant Confederate flag, the frenzied trashing of barriers and racist calls for scary black Muslim guy Obama to “put down the Quran" and "come out with your hands up" because, really, nothing says American democracy like all those things. In her speech, Palin even had the audacity to promise to call out "any who would use our vets as pawns in a political game." Just wow. Happily, actual veterans who organized the actual march - who just want the memorials open - were having none of it. On their website, they issued a statement saying the event was "not in alignment with our message" and blasting those who would "seek to hijack the narrative for political gain" - thus, hopefully, disproving the great oh-so-cynical H.L. Mencken on just how much hypocrisy we can stand.

"No one in this world, so far as I know, has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby."

Palin is such a worthless self serving cuhnt.

And Cruz is a hopeless asshat at this point he may as well try to join the Communist party his daddy served.

Um... They are two of the goopers' best Presidential candidates for '16.

Thanks for telling the truth about it.

This is a massive thread fail. Why? Because wasn't it the Bivins Boy who said there were no veterans at the protest, only "Teabaggers." Why would these "Teabaggers" then tell off two of their leaders?

Bivins Boy?

It got hijacked by the TeaBaggers. It turned into a Tea Bagger Rally. That's what I was so pissed off to see. I'm glad the Vets made this perfectly clear. I hope this story gets out now.

We thought it was a Tea Party Event. I'm glad the truth is out.

You can't blame us for thinking that. You can't expect anyone to respect an event starring Sarah Palin and Ted Cruz. I see the vets are pissed off too.

If they weren't invited, they shouldn't have been there.

Yet, the first things that come out of the left was demonizing these guys because they had the audacity to be pissed off about Memorials being closed. That's bullshit, and speaks volumes. Then, as a day or so goes by - the left then shifts to the Palin/Cruz line to help throw some cover of their hatred for anyone that served. All you have to do is look at the threads, and how their focus shifted.

Pathetic.

Yes. Pathetic. Al that matters here is that tee-hatter scumbags are trying to use the vets to get some free air.

If Cruz and Palin gave a genuine shit about vets, they wouldn't have shut the government.

They don't.

It's only genuinely stupid fringe rightwankers that think their concern is genuine.

Like I said. Not invited - shouldn't have been there.....pretty simple.

Wow - Cruz and Palin shut down the government, all by there lonesome selves?

Pretty impressive. ;)

BTW.....none of the idiots in DC give two shits about what's going on. It's a stage and the worlds an audience. The sooner you dopes figure that, the sooner some actual positive change may happen. Until then, keep regurgitating the line.

The Tea Party are the folks who shut down that memorial by orchestrating the general shutdown.

We've been consistantly railing against the political grandstanding all along. Michelle Bachmann and that other idiot has been doing it all week long outside of those monuments and now the Tea party hijacked this one. I was actually posting yesterday morning that fox news was taking a non-partisan position on the protest (except for an excerpt of Louis Gomert). Then Sarah and Tedd showed up. Then I really got into making fun of the group. That's when it got out of hand. That's when the barricades were being dragged to the white house. It was non-partisan until the two hacks arrived.

According to the vets, they weren't invited.

At any public gathering of veterans with more then 100 people, it is likely that at least one of the veterans will be a socialist, a Democrat, who hates Republicans of every stripe and you can bet that this veteran, God bless him for his service, will be bad mouthing the Republicans that he hates, and you can bet every word he utters will be recorded by every open mike of the liberal press to prove that vets hate Republicans. The left wing press might need to interview a few hundred veterans to find that one special veteran, God bless him for his service, that will badmouth Republicans, but they will persist until they do and all he other interviews will end up on the digital cutting room floor.

WTF are you talking about. Here, read this:

The political agenda put forth by a local organizer in Washington DC was not in alignment with our message. We feel disheartened that some would seek to hijack the narrative for political gain. The core principle is about all Americans honoring Veterans in a peaceful and apolitical manner. Feel free to check out the 60+ rallies of the Million Vet March across the nation at our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Million-Vet-March-on-the-Memorials/539097822833735.

Wake up pal, get some oxygen or something. That is exactly all we see in DC these days, from both sides of the aisle. To say it's one and not the other is abject ignorance.

Then they shouldn't have been there. If I wasn't so busy providing for my family, I would have liked to have been there because I believe in their position regarding what they were protesting. I would not have been happy to see any Washington insiders showing up either.
