Meanwhile in a gun-free zone

Great job at ignoring my point. Did banning guns in Chicago work?

Your point is based on a FLAT OUT LIE.

Chicago is NOT a "gun free zone".

My understanding is that it's almost impossible to get a legal gun in Chicago.

Put it this way, how many guns used in the killings above were legal?

Chicago’s strict policies have effectively given lawbreakers a monopoly on weapons in many parts of the city that the Chicago Police Department cannot or will not police effectively.

More than a quarter of the firearms seized on the streets here by the Chicago Police Department over the past five years were bought just outside city limits in Cook County suburbs, according to an analysis by the University of Chicago Crime Lab. Others came from stores around Illinois and from other states, like Indiana, less than an hour’s drive away. Since 2008, more than 1,300 of the confiscated guns, the analysis showed, were bought from just one store, Chuck’s Gun Shop in Riverdale, Ill., within a few miles of Chicago’s city limits.

..

Efforts to compare the strictness of gun laws and the level of violence across major American cities are fraught with contradiction and complication, not least because of varying degrees of coordination between local and state laws and differing levels of enforcement. In New York City, where homicides and shootings have decreased, the gun laws are generally seen as at least as strict as Chicago’s, and the state laws in New York and many of its neighboring states are viewed as still tougher than those in and around Illinois. Philadelphia, like cities in many states, is limited in writing gun measures that go beyond those set by Pennsylvania law. Some city officials there have chafed under what they see as relatively lax state controls.

Neither are schools, military bases, government buildings, parks, or movie theaters, yet they continue putting up those completely useless signs that act as a bull's eye for whack jobs with a grudge.

How do you protect Americans from shootings? Easy, say liberals.

Just ban guns! :)

See, another liberal policy that worked perfectly!

Gee, Isn't Chicago a "gun free" city?

We KNOW schools are "gun free zones" according to federal law. :)

Schools are "gun free zones". Federal law states that no guns will be within 1,000 feet of school property. :)

Gun free zones are only for the law abiding. You are going to start to see cases of citizens being arrested for shooting crazed killers in gun free zones. More and more people are going to arm themselves and carry their weapon everywhere. No law written by any town, city, state, or federal gov. is going to stop citizens from arming themselves. Insane policies like stopping the stop and frisk law will only increase the violence and force more people to arm themselves. One can only imagine the number of normal citizens who are arming themselves in places like Chicago or Detroit. Until murderers are executed or imprisoned for life things are only going to get worse. There should be a minimum sentence of 25 years for anyone who commits an armed robbery or armed assault with a gun. Build more prisons. 3 more years.

Uh Oh, getttin tough. Not only local laws, but also federal laws. I was actually beginning to harbor concerns. I'm feeling safer now.

Crucifixion !!!

As far as military bases, aren't these the people who are actually most comfortable handling firearms. Let our military actually be allowed to carry. 24/7. Why not?

EXACTLY

Anyone caught with an illegal gun should get 5 years minimum.

Anyone USING that weapon in the commission of a crime should get 15 years.

IF the gun is discharged during the commission of the crime, 30 years in prison.

Maybe some people MIGHT wanna think twice before the carry/use illegal guns, the rest will be in prison.

And allow law-abiding, responsible citizens in inner city (read that BLACK, LATINO) to posses, own AND get CCWs, to protect their family, and neighborhood.

Crime would drop drastically. :)

OK, crucifixion only for discharging - injury and or death of victim.

Apparently you missed the news on Columbine, Virginia Tech, and Sandy Hook.

Or maybe, just maybe...and I'm talking completely hypothetical here...they were chosen BECAUSE they are "defenseless victim zones." Nah, that couldn't be it, could it?
