JPOST reports: US began training Syrian rebels in 2012

American intelligence and military personnel have for months been providing weapons training to Syrian rebels fighting President Bashar Assads regime, The Los Angeles Times reported on Friday.

The newspaper cited US officials and rebel commanders who confirmed that CIA operatives and American special operations units have been training the rebels primarily from the Free Syrian Army - with anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons since late 2012.

The newspaper reported that the training took place at covert bases in Jordan and Turkey.

Washington has been urged by lawmakers at home and critics abroad to increase its involvement in the Syrian conflict.

I think at the very least, if the US policy has been perceived to have been too pro-Israel in the past.

It is safe to say, at the least, that this administration has taken a decidedly pro Islam stance.

No, not pro Islam, just trying to appear more neutral, which is very difficult.

At the end of the day, the US will defend Israel.

Libs in silence!

What's that?

Libs don't like Obama's buddies??

The reason libs are in a shocked silence is because it is the REPUBLICANS LIKE JOHN MCCAIN WHO WANT TO EXPAND OUR ROLE IN SYRIA, NOT OBAMA.

Get your facts straight before running off at the ass.

That must be why Obama is the one Arming Americas enemies, Al Queda. And McCain is a warhawk just like Obomba is. I don't understand why you do not like him.
