Not really the same as Zimmerman. Thandiwe is an admitted race-killing nut and will not in any way escape justice, even if the insanity defense is successful. He's at a minimum, seen his last day of freedom, if not a trip to death row.

 

Zimmerman was only charged after some cajoling, and public outrage. And the case against him was tough and made tougher still by the judge not admitting the recording in which Martin was thought to have cried for help, citing that the voice-recognition technology used was highly suspect (no judicial notice). I give Zimmerman a 90% chance of walking, if not better. And the Black Community will be up in arms, even more so insofar as not one black person is on the jury. But whether or not Zimmerman is guilty is meaningless, in court. He must be proven guilty, beyond a reasonable doubt, which is simply too hard to do with no witnesses, besides Zimmerman. At best, the prosecution has circumstantial evidence, and next to nothing of material value.
