mandrew002008
Things just seem to be going downhill for the president. President Barack Obama's approval rating dropped eight points from last month, according to a CNN poll released Monday. The survey found that 45 percent of respondents approve of the president, while 54 percent disapprove. In mid-May, the numbers were essentially reversed -- 53 percent approved and 45 percent disapproved. Americans under 30 flipped by 17 points against Obama, according to the poll. Half of the respondents said they do not feel that he is honest and trustworthy -- a nine-point drop from last month. The public disapproves of surveillance, and 43 percent of people think the administration has gone too far in sacrificing civil liberties in the name of fighting terrorism, the CNN poll found. A recent HuffPost/YouGov poll found that 45 percent of Americans feel Obama is doing a poor job when it comes to protecting constitutional rights. The CNN poll found that 61 percent of people disapprove of surveillance efforts, while 35 percent said they approve. The numbers suggest that the president's approval level has been damaged by the revelations that the NSA is surveilling Americans' phone and Internet activities, and the president's support for such programs. The president's approval rating has fallen recently overall, according to HuffPost/Pollster's polling average: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/17/obama-approval_n_3453012.html

If you want to laugh at 54% disapproval go right ahead we won't hold it against you. We all know you have suffered enough failures in life.. Voice of Reason
Fairly common for a second term president who hasn't done much except talk a good game. I've said this before, if he had really gotten to work instead of campaigning for his re-election during his first two years in office when he had virtually absolute power, we might be singing a different tune. Instead, we have a career campaigner who now blames an obstructionist Congress for his failure to not only unite Congress, but also, advance his programs. His failure to lead, accept responsibility for his subordinates' failures, and for his constant finger pointing has proven him incapable of being anything other than an overpaid figurehead. I personally think history will only look at the novelty of him being the first president of color with little mention of his record as chief executive. The left can blame the Republican House all they want, but the list of his failures and inept performance is extensive. Here's a quick overview: The ACA-it's good for everyone except the ones who voted for it and there are numerous exceptions being granted now that we've had a chance to see what's in it. (Think Pelosi here, folks) The increasing public debt-this clearly overshadows his deficit reduction Finally, let's focus on his failure to close Gitmo as promised, his power grab with the NDAA, and the numerous issues, be they real or not, of late. Even if they aren't true scandals, they will still put a black mark on his presidency. I'm not sure, short of a complete overhaul of everything he's been doing and distancing himself from the Obama-worshippers, that there's anything he can do to salvage this sinking ship. Partisan politics is not what this country needs but we've had it for the past 20 years and this is the mess we're in. This is bad bad news. My gues is he won't get re elected. You say that jokingly, and although we have some stupid comments on here, this forum as a whole is fairly well-educated vs. the overall population when it comes to politics, but you don't know how many people I heard exclaim that Obama beat Bush in his first election. The overall population is fairly ignorant when it comes to the leaders of this nation unfortunately.
shintao
Obama: 54% Disapproval...How low can you go! Things just seem to be going downhill for the president. Lets see, Obama could go as high as a 77% disapproval rating and still be ahead of your savior Bush. Thanks for playing!!! President Bush will leave office as one of the most unpopular departing presidents in history, according to a new CBS News/New York Times poll showing Mr. Bush's final approval rating at 22 percent. dano bivins
Hey manny, making up numbers again? laffin. Obama: 54% approval Bush: 22% approval At one point Bush was down to 17% approval, an all-time record. Today, no one even remembers Bush unless they hear the word "recession". He stayed away from the Repub convention, and not a single mention of his name could be heard. The party avoided him like the plaque. Obama is wildly popular. Why not, he saved the country. he ended torture, he ended rendition, he put severe restrictions on the drone program and on the way we were vacuuming info. Despite the MSM being controlled by the RNC, the word has gotten out, thanks to the internet.

Under every democrat president, the unemployment rate has gone down, under every republican one, it's gone up. 54% is an incredible approval rate for a president in his second term of a major recovery. Just unprecedented. Whine, wingnutz, whine. BTW, it's 53% favorable, according to the latest Bloomberg poll. http://pollingreport.com/obama_fav.htm
