NaughtyWord
Some of the same Republicans who cheered, nay outright had a hard on for the Patriot Act and the Military Commissions Act of 2006 are chastising President Obama and the NSA for exercising some of the provisions explicitly in the MCA2006 and The Patriot Act? Libertarian minds warned you, warned you for years, that your beloved Patriot Act would cause unethical behavior in government, you brushed us off as loony, crazy, zany, and even as idiots. Now Republicans, who has egg on their face? Stand up Pubbies, take pride in the GREAT BIG GOVERNMENT you created you fucking lying hypocrites. Oh I haven't forgotten about you Liberals. That's right, you railed against the Patriot Act, and now that His Holiness is exercising it, all of the sudden dissenting voices from the left about warrantless wiretapping are silent. You are just as every bit despicable. Truly fuck all you sheep, every last one of you that supported either of these bastard parties. Our founding fathers wouldn't piss on you bastards to put you out. -NW

ObummerStinks
Grow up. I'm not necessarily a R, I identify mostly with conservative - and there's a big difference, especially these days. Patriot Act, NDAA, phone tapping, warrantless wiretaps, and all the other Big Brother stuff is complete and utter BS. The gubbermint is quickly (at the behest of whom?) moving this country into an all-encompassing police/gubbermint state where the individual freedoms and liberties this country was founded upon are cast aside, ironically, in the name of freedom. The gubbermint and global elitists have packaged the product, and the majority of the sheeple on both sides are buying it. Wrong is wrong - regardless of the source. Maybe grow up a little and quit playing their game and actually take a stand for something instead of yammering like a juvenile agenda driven fool. zebra20zebra20
The current 'pubbies' are the old 'blue dog democrats' who ran from their party because the socialist/marxist kicked them out! Hence, the battle within the 'pubbie' party to retake it back from the blue dogs!

Go figure. Hence, the republican party must be retaken back from the defectors from the 'old democratic party'. I left the Obama camp when he renewed the Patriot Act. Repubs are nothing if not hypocritical. Congress passed the 'Patriot Act' as a temporary measure, Obama made it permanent, even though Obama said "The war on Terror is over"! NaughtyWord
What is it that alerts them to tap your phone? When you answer it or when you hit "send" after punching in some numbers. Your entire phone record for decades could be put on a *.txt that might be a few MB in size. Just as one example. -NW

Golfboy
I left the Obama camp when he renewed the Patriot Act. Repubs are nothing if not hypocritical. And yet you've been defending him for 5 years. And how are Repubs hypocritical for pointing out that Obama expanded these programs, now taking in U.S. citizens? The only time these programs were used against U.S. citizens under Bush was when they were talking to someone outside the country. No longer. NaughtyWord
Let's say every single american has a phone record that's 100MB. Which is a fairly large file with something like notepad™. You would only need something called 28,610 terabytes or 27 petabytes to hold such a record for every single American on earth. 30k terabytes is nothing, most major department stores sell the 1 terabyte Hard Drives for just over 100 bucks. -NW

Nobody gives a damn who I call or what I say. You can't PAY the $ to have a hundred thousand snoops listen to every phone call,to read every email. to inspect every detail of every life. They DO want to track who a probable DANGEROUS person is tied to. Makes sense to not tip off the wannabe terrorists that this is a tactic....well...blew the cover on that. Without any hoopla....this IS something that had bipartisan backing and oversight. I'm against any Orwellian Police State...but....unless you are hosting a BBQ for some Al Qaeda types....you ain't worth the COST of watching. I'm HERE...I'm not politically apathetic...but I'm NOT worth having someone monitor. There's about 300 million Americans and maybe 3000 of us are folks who get carefully watched as being a threat...yet not a person who can be arrested. Do the math.
