I thought it was smoke and mirrors. The one thing that did surprise me is his attack on civil liberties. They go well beyond anything I would have anticipated, and they don't seem easy to explain. In many ways the worst is what you mention, Holder vs. Humanitarian Law Project. That's an Obama initiative and it's a very serious attack on civil liberties. He doesn't gain anything from it he doesn't get any political mileage out of it. In fact, most people don't even know about it..." If you were familiar with his work, you would know he criticizes democrats and so called liberals AS MUCH as any others. The left can handle healthy self introspective criticism, which is a good thing as they are mostly full of shit. The right has no tolerance for it. You didn't know this, that tells me you don't listen to his material yourself, you're a parrot repeating some utter bullshit you heard not knowing how ridicules it is. Go learn something for yourself, quit being a parrot.

MotherJonses
dude, chomsky espouses individual freedom...yet despises the capitalist system...how the hell can that be? Because lack of meaningful rules is not freedom. Because the choice between Pepsi and Coke is not freedom. Because capitalism is not freedom but a yoke worn by many to the benefit of few. But you will line up to wear it and praise your farmer/master because he is light with the whip and lets you make meaningless "choices" that create no change from the ecocidal, suicidal path we are on. You corrected my post via your quoting of it, and then referred, ambiguously, to grammar nazi, while being wrong in your correction of my post. ImTheNana
Because lack of meaningful rules is not freedom. Neither is it capitalism. Meaningful rules would be rules like contract law, safe operations, etc. Meaningful rules do not include McJobs-destroying increases of minimum wage, for example. Because the choice between Pepsi and Coke is not freedom. Unless that's what the people want as their choices. Capitalism allows for competition, consumer choice, the rise and fall of supply and demand. Socialism causes brand destruction via over-regulation and forces choices consumers do not want in the guise of 'freedom', which is really just government greed bolstered by lobbyist $$$. Because capitalism is not freedom but a yoke worn by many to the benefit of few. But you will line up to wear it and praise your farmer/master because he is light with the whip and lets you make meaningless "choices" that create no change from the ecocidal, suicidal path we are on. Flowery poetry =/= reality. Remember...growth for the sake of growth is the motto of cancer, and always kills the host (which kills the disease)Remember... misdiagnosis of cancer, coupled with unnecessary 'medicine', kills the host too, which causes expensive malpractice suits, and raises the cost of everything medical.
