  1. Interesting. Looking at the states that pay their own way. - Florida and Colorado are swing states so they can be considered purple. - Texas and Nevada may flip soon. http://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/342427-republicans-face-growing-demographic-shift-in-west
  2. A brutal dictator who repeatedly threatened the world makes a vague promise to be better so he is a friend. A long term ally said he will respond to tariffs with his own tariffs so he is an enemy. Trump's perspective is skewed.
  3. I It's only going to look worse for red states when Texas becomes purple.
  4. Manafort is innocent until proven guilty. If convicted, he may spend the rest of his life behind bars. He was on the payroll of a hostile foreign power. It doesn't look good.
  5. Still unclear as to why the brutal North Korean dictator is a friend and the democratically elected prime minister of Canada is a foe,
  6. Clean drinking water is a pretty great for most people. The government did that.
  7. 2) The tactic is obvious. It has been tried before. It always fails. 3) Trump promised tariffs against China throughout the campaign. He also promised to renegotiate every trade deal. 4) Protectionism was central to his nationalist message. See 3.
  8. Would a Fox News video help you understand that your orange cult leader got played by the North Korean cult leader?
  9. I have demonstrated to you numerous times that denuclearization is the appropriate term. Now you're just repeating yourself. So I am going to repeat myself: Your boy got played. He abandoned military exercises and promised troop withdrawal in exchange for an empty promise by a nation that never keeps its promises. If Obama had made this agreement you would be (rightly) outraged.
  10. 1) I used your exact words, You demand specificity while refusing to provide it yourself. One example (of thousands) is the 20%+ tariff on Canadian lumber. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-41838828 2) Canada's dairy taxes are part of supply management. It is not an idea I support, but most dairy enters Canada duty free or at a modest tariff. 3) Steel and aluminum tariffs will support substantially grow the US economy. Retaliatory tariffs on high-profit services and premium goods will hurt the US economy. He is doing it to appease voters, not to grow the economy
  11. I find their policies pretty balanced but that is a different debate. Thinking in terms of the general election, they have charisma and that is what it will take to defeat a charismatic candidate like Trump. (I know it is hard to view Trump as charismatic from our side of the fence but he won 2016 on charisma, not policy or qualification)
  12. Tough call. There are some good names in BD's list but, with one exception, each of these individuals has a long way to go before they can lead the charge to defeat Donald Trump. Were it not for his age, Biden would be the perfect candidate. I think he could probably win back Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Booker would be an excellent running mate but he lacks the experience to run at the top of the ticket.
  13. I stand corrected. The USSR merely trained North Korean scientists and engineers, giving them the basics of their own nuclear program. T The United States deployed nuclear weapons in South Korea continuously for 33 years - Source: Kristensen & Norris 2017 (https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/00963402.2017.1388656)
  14. Of course you can if you have a nuclear program and the technology to refine weapons grade plutonium. What part of that is beyond your grasp? October 2007: North and South Korean sign agreement calling for a denuclearization of the peninsula and a permanent peace agreement. North Korea withdrew. http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2018/04/27/north-korea-has-history-broken-promises-will-it-happen-again.html Like I said, North Korea has a history of not keeping promises. Trump got played.
  15. You forgot to mention that America ALREADY places tariffs on their goods too.
  16. 1) America already had tariffs on other countries in the form of countervailing duties or retaliation for dumping. 2) Tariffs and protectionism stifle economic growth. 3) Trump's tariffs are political, not economic. 4) Other countries will respond with their own tariffs on American goods and services. Let the job killing trade war begin.
  17. You appear to be trying to play a word game but the term denuclearization is correct. As I states previously, the 1992 agreement was the "Joint Declaration of the Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula" The word denuclearization was in the title of the agreement. A third empty promise was North Korea promises to stop plutonium production in exchange for supplies on October 21, 1994 https://www.armscontrol.org/factsheets/agreedframework. Just so you know, Obama had nothing to do with it.
  18. Is FOX too liberal for you too? North Korea summit: Trump stuns region with call to end military drills http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/06/12/north-korea-summit-trump-stuns-region-with-call-to-end-military-drills.html
  19. Huh? The Korean Peninsula was first nuclearized in the 50s when the USSR and America put nukes there. There have been discussions and promises ever since. I just posted an example when North Korea signed the NPT. A second example is the Joint Declaration of the Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula which North and South Korea signed in 1992. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joint_Declaration_of_the_Denuclearization_of_the_Korean_Peninsula There are dozens of examples of broken promises by the North Koreans. Face it. If Obama had done this,
  20. Here you go: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/jun/12/us-to-suspend-war-games-with-south-korea-donald-trump-kim-jong-un-north-summit What did Trump get in exchange for this major concession? Nothing, that's what. Your boy screwed up - BIGLY.
  21. It was a major concession, no matter how desperate you are to claim otherwise. It came as a surprise to South Korea and Japan. Lets start with the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons treaty . North Korea signed it on Dec 12th 1985. They used it to buy time. I have a few dozen more examples. Face it, your man gave up more to North Korea than any president in history and got nothing new in return.
  22. Issues that I have noticed in my interactions with moderate conservatives (I tend not to interact with rabid Trumpists) - They are afraid of whites becoming a minority and the culture of America changing. - Some believe that abortion is murder and that it should be illegal. - Gun rights. I'm not talking about rednecks and open-carry lunatics - I am talking about responsible gun owners. They love them and want to keep them. - They are afraid of what happened in places like Venezuela and worry about programs that they view as socialistic. - The rise of atheism wor
  23. Finally something is being done about that disgraceful Trump Foundation.
