  1. I am a new member and 2 of my posts are lost. I AM FRUSTRATED. Your listed as someone to contact but there is no other way to contact you. I want to end my membership because this website is definitely not what I am looking for unless my last two posts get posted. Not a fan of wasting my time;
  2. Plain and simple and I just want to hear if people think this is a possible way to take our power back and start making Washington work for us and Wall Street lose at least a little and slowly maybe even more and more. Instead of being the 99% camping out on Wall Street being labeled as losers, lazy and many other negative things we somehow turn our attention to the media starting with local news stations in as many towns as we can. Start picketing them to follow up on stories they initially start about corruption in government locally including branches where funds were misused by those in charge of education, human services, etc. In Des Moines we had the head of education give herself some ridiculous raise in the hundreds of thousands while school budgets were cut further and further down, art, music and drama programs cut, grades dropped among students due to teacher cut backs and more. The local news reported her name and her crime. Congress requested her appear and answer questions. She refused a few times. No warrant or arrest was made like should be the case. Then, in the end, she appeared, answered some questions that weren't very tough considering her crime. Nothing more was ever reported. Her name was forgotten. Did she have to pay the money back. I don't think so but there was no local news program that claimed this to be an outrage. I don't even remember if they followed up with the findings. No jail time was heard of but she lost her position. Let's push the reporters to stop giggling about their own banter and a goat that was confused in traffic this morning and make them remember that their real purpose was to be the watchdogs for the people. Let's make it not so fun to go into work and leave the building throughout the day until they giggle less and deal with the serious stuff more.
  3. This is copied from a post I wrote earlier but did a lousy job tagging so hopefully this brings in more people who are serious about getting media back to being watchdogs for us and not celebrities with huge egos that have jumped in bed with the political candidates because fame fortune and celebrity status is more fun than being ethical and keeping the dreams of some ancient forefathers alive and well in the world today. We keep letting them entrance us with their rock concerts and eloquent words that offer no concrete plan of action at all. Man is it all so overwhelming I'm surprised women aren't throwing their bras on the stages already caught up in the hype like when the beetles and rolling stones started out. Their job was to entertain so that's understandable. Political candidates should be as serious, respectful and as professional as you or I would be when we go in for an extremely important job interview. They are looking to be hired by us and remember once hired that they work for us. We need to remember that our role is to be as dignified as the man or woman who comes into interview us for what we know is a very prestigious position. They definitely don't clap, whoop and holler, chant our name over and over again or carry posters, flags, etc with our name on them so they can wave them around and jump up from time to time for us as we just talk about the ideas we have and what we can do is the best ever and will cause this company to be sooooooo much more successful. Great thing is we never have to really offer any specifics or details about what those ideas are because we know pretty words that flow eloquently and the interviewer isn't allowed to ask questions that could trip us up. You may think I am exaggerating a bit but with every passing campaign it seems to come closer to this truth. As long as we give them this celebrity status there is no reason for them to change. How can a portion of us stop the other portion from getting caught up in the adrenaline rush. My other post is called "The Illusion of Democracy" if your interested.
  4. 2016 will bring us to that great day when our voices will be heard and we get to exercise our big bad powerful right to vote. Yeah!!! You know if I don't vote I don't have a right to complain later. Yep, so I better get down to the polls that day to pick the best candidate whose beliefs and values I share and whose ideas I believe in. Please. There have got to be other people out there that have finally figured out how foolish we must look every 4 years for a while now standing in line proclaiming our allegiance to one of the candidates (any of them really). On the news those interviewed will confidently cite one or more of their reasons for backing them, maybe add in a little about why another candidate would be dangerous for America in some way. Last presidential election for the first time since I could vote I did not do so. In fact I wanted to head down to one of the sites and carry a sign that said GO HOME! Your vote doesn't matter anymore. or carry out a poll asking people if they believe that the don't vote, can't complain philosophy is still true or if it's time to go on strike in a way. In other words we the people (the 99% ideally)would take a stand by refusing to canvas for any candidate or make calls or support in any way shape or form any and all of the candidates running for president(although other campaigns for other offices should be put on notice as well). It hasn't been anything Obama did or Bush did or any of the last 7 or 8 presidents did that has brought me to this place. It has been a little from each of them. More from some than others of course. I have to say that Bush and the bailout played a BIG role in my becoming the skeptic I am. Obama's made some mistakes too but a lot of them were more along the lines of indulging Michelle and her two children on taking too many side trips in the name of what seemed a lot like tourism jaunts since they were here or there or where ever that would be fine if it weren't for the fact that the American taxpayers were paying dearly because security for the president's wife and children don't come cheap. A lot of those taxpayers, I might add, were working hard and were lucky if their pay bought them food and shelter. Not so many of us have been able to afford even a simple short vacation or maybe just a night at the hotel down the street with a pool or waterpark. Not to mention all the work and taxes we've been paying could be put toward the deficit we keep hearing our children will inherit. This is really just the tip of the iceberg but I want to hear from others who notice the decline of Democracy. In fact more and more the term free market system is used in political speech and Democracy less and less. I will keep checking this post so any other rebels out there at all feel free to comment on this or on stuff they've noticed/
