  1. Yes. As I've said in the past, the supreme court is too important not to.
  2. I'd love to invite you, but it seems I can't send you a private message?
  3. 1. I didn't call you a trump cultist. I said that you were acting no different than they do. 2. Calling people scum is real mature.
  4. I don't really see any reason to. Republicans have all proven they only care about 'triggering the libs'. And this board has become a hive of scum and villainy. I mean it kind of always was, which is why I avoided NHB. Nobody there is actually interested in political discussion. They're a bunch of people who never grew up and will never grow up.
  5. I've set up a Discord Channel for people interested in discussing politics minus the racism and hatred seen on these forums. If you would like an invite, ask and you may receive. For those who wish to keep in touch with this forum going down the drain.
  6. I've created a Discord channel if anyone's interested. I'll PM them an invitation.
  7. Trump's recent comments on Martin Gugino are truly appalling. The man doesn't have a lick of decency in his body. So we shouldn't act surprised when his fellow Republicans -- who ABSOLUTELY feel the same way he does -- act 'concerned' but then continue to vote for him. Anyone who does not openly denounce Trump at this point, is complicit with his words. Yes, that goes for Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski.
  8. Good. Time to replace a woman who pretends to be concerned about an egomaniac in the white house with someone who'll actually do something worthwile.
  9. George W. Bush was a bad President. But his endorsement is not something that will dissuade me from voting for Biden.
  10. You're mixing up the anchors, and the corporation. The corporation hires anchors who will inveigh against Trump because it will gain them viewers. But they are incredibly subtle in their approach to supporting Trump with the stories they don't cover or undercover. Or even simply overcover. Fox News isn't subtle because their viewers will buy into whatever they sell them. I don't think it's quite as sinister as people in a back room deciding "Let's find ways to support Trump covertly", but rather a subconscious desire to see Trump re-elected.
  11. I feel like people have forgotten that the news media wants four more years of Donald Trump. And so that's what we'll probably end up with. They don't like Bernie Sanders, and they've convinced moderate democrats to not like Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren or Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. But the moderates don't realize that the media doesn't like them either. They don't like Joe Biden. They like Donald Trump, because he makes their job easy. There's always a story to tell with Trump in the White House. Because he's always doing something so incredibly stupid. They didn't like Hillary Clinton. The people nearly showed the media they didn't care what they thought, but because of our outdated electoral college system, the media won. Joe Biden might give them a few things to talk about, but if he governs even semi-competently, it won't be nearly as much as Trump. That's why they'll find something to attack Biden with. And Trump will provide the ammunition. He's been prepping for this since day 1. It's why he tried turning the Ukraine thing into a Biden scandal. And his followers will believe it. His followers will believe anything negative about Democrats. Its why so many of them blame Obama for the Katrina Response -- when Obama was an Illinois Senator. Your friend is right to be cynical. If our country weren't filled with people who'd rather watch the world burn, if it weren't filled with people who despise learning anything -- then you'd be right. But if that were the case, we'd never have gotten Trump in the first case.
  12. If you don't look at the reasons why they didn't vote, and try to earn their vote, then history will repeat itself. As a history teacher, I know that very well. Learn from your failures. Don't ignore them in order to gain power. That's how you end up with a Donald Trump in the white house. We must set the example, so that voters look at the party and think "They really are different than the Republicans."
  13. You know what doesn't suppress voters? Criticism and self-reflection. You know what does? Blaming people. Especially for things that weren't their fault.
  14. I did no such thing. I only said that there's no difference in your mentality "Don't criticize the democratic party!" and the mentality of the Trump Cultists "Don't criticize the President!"
  15. Blaming people for Hillary's Loss = Necessary and Important discussion. Recognizing the failures of the Democratic Party to fix the Justice System = WE CANNOT TALK ABOUT THAT BECAUSE IT MIGHT LOSE BIDEN THE ELECTION! FALL IN LINE!
  16. Ahh, the blame game. When you fail to take responsibility for your failures, and put it on someone else. Hint: Playing the blame game here, doesn't make you look good. It doesn't appeal to voters. It doesn't appeal to anyone. Don't be surprised if, when you tell people "Fall in line, or get out!" that people take the latter suggestion instead of the former.
  17. "Vote for us, or the puppy gets it!" is that really the slogan you want to be working with? Holding the country hostage, rather than making the necessary sweeping changes? You know who you sound like? The Trump Cultists. The very same people who gave us Donald Trump. "You can't criticize (1)! It'll just give us four more years of (2)! and you don't want that, do you?" Pick One: (1) Trump, The Democrats (2) Obama, Trump How similar, that looks. That may fly with conservatives -- because they don't like ideas being challenged. But a core liberal belief is that ideas should be challenged and failures should be addressed. A real pity, if that's not a core belief of the Democratic Party. If they aren't open to criticism, then I don't see how they're any different from the Republican Party. Yes, their ideas are nicer. They're less cruel. But if they want to crush all dissent, then it doesn't make them that much better at their core.
  18. They keep going because change hasn't been made. The police reaction to this has been abysmal in many areas. That shouldn't happen. This isn't about one case, or two, or even three. It's about years and years of issues. And nothing has been done. Yes, these men will finally be tried -- but the fact that it took a protest to get it to happen means that sweeping change needs to happen. Eventually the protests may go away on their own, as people go back to their lives. But they can't just give up because they got justice for one man, or two, or even three. They have to keep going as long as they can the sweeping reforms necessary to prevent future needless deaths by over-eager cops.
  19. The people who are looting are doing so out of frustration. I'm not excusing their behavior -- I don't think it's right to loot, and I don't think they think it's right to loot either. But they are frustrated. Frustrated with Capitalism, frustrated with a failure to change anything, frustrated with businesses that refuse to give back to the community. What the media hasn't mentioned is that police are exacerbating the situation. And the media themselves is exacerbating it as well. After all, which gets more coverage: A peaceful protest, or looting and rioting? And police take a hard stance against peaceful protesters, which then encourages people to react. When Colin Kaepernick took a knee to protest the killing of unarmed black people by police, he was blacklisted from the NFL. The President of the United States called him all sorts of nasty names. When LeBron James spoke out, Laura Ingraham told him to "Shut up and Dribble". When Drew Brees spoke out in favor of the flag, however, Laura Ingraham praised him. Funny how she didn't tell him to shut up and throw the ball. People see that. They also see that when they shout as loud as they can, that nothing gets done. People shouted for years from the rooftops about the problem with Baltimore Police. Police aren't helping matters either. They show up in riot gear, and intimidate peaceful protesters. Then they ignore the looters. They run into peaceful protesters with their car, then sit and watch as people loot. They push a 75-year old man to the ground protesting peacefully. They make comments like Katie Crews did, wishing harm on protesters. These cops are disgraceful, and the response has been disgraceful. And of course you have our "President" who isn't making matters better, either. And you can say they should vote. But democrats haven't fixed the problems. Nobody has. And that we'll do a better job isn't good enough. There needs to be real change. Which includes a more community-policing response to protests, rather than showing up in riot gear and talking about putting down peaceful protesters and shoving them down.
  20. Nope, your moderate left Clinton/Kaine ticket lost to Donald Trump. Just as John Kerry lost to George W. Bush. Obama ran more liberal, but then went back to being more moderate sadly. Which also contributed to Trump's victory. But the far-left did not get you anything. You've only got yourselves to blame.
  21. Warren is unlikely, but mostly because Biden will pick another Centrist to put on the ticket that will do nothing to excite the left-wing of the party. Someone like Abrams or Klobuchar. Because Dems love to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
  22. Warren is polling better than Klobuchar in Wisconsin and Michigan.
  23. I disagree that moderates are the key to the election. They weren't in 2016, and they won't be in 2020. We need the people who decide NOT to vote. Get the excitement factor. It's what Obama had, and it's what Kaine and Hillary lacked. Like it or not, excitement is the key to winning elections now.

No holds barred chat

  • Where’s at @slideman?

  • Hola

  • I know this one, this new chat thing. I've seen it called the "shoutbox" among other things in my past. Very hard to hide from the chat box. The question is asked, there's no time to go search what other folks think, this is real time. Only seconds should be between chat box replies. This one is made for me. In the chat box one has to be quick on their feet with stuff at the ready. This chat box is the worst nightmare of anyone trying to deal with ol' teach.

Scroll the other way for a while and you'll see me saying that these days the chat box ain't gonna work as one has to be quick on one's feet. The question is posed, there ain't no stinkin time for ya'll to refer to your betters for the answer, ya'll don't understand these things, this political debate, ya'll don't have the answer at hand, ya'll haven't thought this through, ya'll ain't ready for the next question I'll ask,  ya'll can't handle the pace that a bloke such as I can bring it in the chat box, ya'll can't handle this format.

This one is made for me.
