US political infighting is the threat to US national interests in the

It is almost six months to the day since the election of Donald Trump as the US President. During this time the internal political struggle, initiated by the losing side, has not abated. On the contrary, it is escalating with each passing day. And it constitutes a real threat to internal stability and foreign policy interests of the USA.

Recent survey, compiled by a consulting firm, results of which were obtained by the Wall Street Journal (https://www.wsj.com/articles/state-department-workers-vent-grievances-over-trump-tillerson-cite-longer-term-issues-1499194852) indicates that at this moment, according to most State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development employers, their leadership is far from the reality and engaged predominantly in political infighting, from which the US interests suffer all over the world. "People question if these two groups understand the role the Department of State plays in forwarding the interests of the United States in the world," the survey concludes.

Most employers very harshly responded to a request for assessment of the US State Department leadership's work. And this is understandable because main efforts are being made not to protect US values and interests, but to fend off the attacks of the Democratic Party. In some regions it has already led to dismal consequences. For instance, Belarus' ruling regime has practically wiped out local progressive opposition and Belarusian democratic institutions have to wind down their activities, as reported by Matthew Sumpter, USAID Belarus Country Director.

To avoid negative impacts on the situation in other parts of the world where our representatives not only defend the US national interests, but also protect local democratic rights and freedoms, the US Congressmen should immediately stop to heat up the situation in the country; otherwise America is in danger of losing control over major political processes inside those countries whose values run counter to the principles of democracy. In the long run it can result in the loss of the US world leadership. In sum, there is only one question I must pose here to Democrats, who have lost recent presidential race: are you really ready to trade off the US national interests for your own ones?

That trade off took place eight years ago when the republican party decided not to agree with anything that the democrats tried to do. It was a no comprise allowed situation. That still exists today. True the democrats are opposing the republicans on many issues but as I see it, the republicans are still allowing no comprise with the democrats. It is the fault of both parties, not just one.

I think that the 'loosing side' wouldn't be fighting back this hard if they(And most people with a brain) didn't feel that Putin had a hand in it. Trump and the republican part might deny it, but they know they owe a huge debt to Russia! Also, we've never had a president this inept and foolish! The real problem, the whole attempt to change from the 'land of the free' to 'you better think just like me' started in the Bush years, leading up to an unwise and horrible war! And, know, that wasn't a war on terror, that was a war to find non-existant WMD's! Terrorist starting to flood the region in mass happened because of the war! As for infighting now? Everything Trump has done or tried to do so far has been God awful! If infighting in the government seems so wrong, simply tell Trump to stop acting like an insane retard!

I think the issues in the State Department, the infighting, and the rest of the problems have very little to do with the Democratic Party, and very very much to do with Trump gutting the department without having replacements, with nominating an absolute numpty as Secretary of State, with being mired in corruption and shady deals and nepotism, and with in-party and in-house infighting that is causing the problems. Resistance is not the issue. Trump being a gobshite orange fucktwaffle with the policy knowledge and execution of a hyper-stimulated caffeine-addict mentally enhanced squirrel.

Trump's policies MUST be resisted, or we might as well all just kiss our country goodbye.

Another great post. The State Department is vast and needs to be. USAID has for years been underfunded and now with Trump  the lack of support has become devastating.

I've always thought that inequality around the world is a critical ingredient to the turmoils all countries face. Global trade can be a good thing but it takes intense cooperation and understanding. and it needs to be done to assist people and not as a way to simply take advantage of the poor.

That being said, you have to allow poor nations to catch up regarding environmental protections and human rights. This takes a lot understanding and a lot of investment by rich countries.

Cutting back on the State Departments funds while increasing military arms is downright foolish in my opinion!

Peace!
